Cms Software Dvr Linux
Nov 29, 2013 Can anyone recommend a Security Camera system with support for controll software that works on Linux? Everything I see requires IE(Active X) or has CMS software that supports windows (and doesn't work under wine). CMS is a rich video surveillance client program for the NVR software. Hundreds to thousand IP security camera/ CCTV DVR and then user can manage easily these.
Diptrace software free download. Ubiquity's AirVision supports linux - it actually doesn't have a separate hardware DVR component; instead, it stores and manages the video on said linux (or windows, though linux is probably the better supported target) systems. As for clients, the standard html interface is, well, html + flash. There is a html only interface for the mobile site as well - and is usable on systems which don't support flash.
A couple of caveats - you are currently limited to the ubiquity cameras - which fill a particular niche - but if you want outside that niche there's no current options. (Specifically, no PTZ - or just optical zoom, no nightvision). These features are theoretically due in a new series at the start of 2014, but I wouldn't bet on the date not slipping.
That said, I've had a system for over a year and been very happy with it (12 cameras, mix of domes and bullets). There was some significant teething issues at the start, but they are for the most part worked out now.

If you prefer the hardware DVR route they sell a box which is just basically an atom pc with a version of linux - but customized to work like an appliance (i.e. Headless, hit the web interface).
